Testimonials

Vincent was thoughtful and deliberate in his presentation and moreover, facilitation, of the course. He very effectively allowed the students to self-regulate and engage with the material in a way that I feel confident will create lasting conceptual change for those who participated. I especially appreciated how Vincent essentially demonstrated the behaviours and techniques he presented throughout the course, in the way he presented and responded to the material. We learned quite a lot about nonjudgmentally and nonreactively communicating with people in distress, and while not in distress, Vincent was very effective at presenting and discussing this complex and at times intense material with respect and steadiness.

The richness in the delivery of the course by the facilitator should be celebrated. Aside from the facilitator being knowledge in the area of mental health, Vincent was able to explain things in a way that I can understand. Vincent was able to break down important points or articulate them in a way to see things different than what I hear or see from various media platforms. Using his experience to demonstrate what was being taught, helped to make things clear for my own understanding. Our class comprised of diverse students and cultural backgrounds; thus, Vincent was respectful in how he attended to our questions or communicated back to each individual feedback. Vincent also reminded us in his own way of "self-care" what are we going to do after each day of activity, thinking about our "self-care".

I know the content presented was sensitive, alive and relevant to my area of work. Thank you for a crucial/important course and holding a calm, respectful and open setting to train and develop my Mental Health First Aid skills further. (taking beyond a health setting). There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and explore real school life examples which was helpful for my learning. The course has more than met my expectation as it was practical and provided learning for self-care both personally and professionally. I appreciated information in a break discussion with Vincent on collaborative work and how to link further positively, assertively with the wellbeing person at my school.

Vincent had a very clear way of introducing ideas and information; he also was able to facilitate discussion and questioning around specific thoughts and issues that came up through our information sessions. He was very conscious of the delicate nature of the subject-matter and ensured that all were able to process the information in an effective and meaningful way.

I appreciated the time that Vincent gave to the group and to the topic discussed. He established and maintained a safe and calm environment during the two days. The course content was well paced, allowing for questions and group discussion. I want to thank Vincent for all of his work with the group during the course.
